this ad was actually written in the customers voice “”
It’s written in a personal, casual tone that simultaneously calls out the audience ()
What makes this ad work is the combo of calling out the target audience and a pain point.
The copy doesn’t ask a question but leaves the audience thinking about a problem.
Just be real, personal and social in your ad writing – that’s one way to stand out in the newsfeed.

2. Be Simple –
Think about the average active Facebook user for a minute. More than Half of them are youths between
18 – 45. Think about how they talk in normal live conversations, think about the kind of words they use
in chats and how they structure their language in comments/post.
You’d notice that they are simple. They use simple casual words. So when you write your ad copy, keep
things simple, so simple that a 5-year old will get the message.
Using big words will only make you think you look smarter, but trust me, it will hurt your conversions for
real. It’s all about simplification. Using short and clear sentences that makes perfect sense.

The ad above has a great offer “see a doctor when you want and on your own schedule”. Because the
offer is so good, no much words is needed. Writing the ad copy flows so naturally when you have a great
offer. Less than two lines of copy – yet so clear, so simple, so appealing with a strong call to action.

3. Ask Questions –
Inserting a question on the first line of your copy, flat out works.
When you use a question to start your copy, try to give answer to that question immediately in the next
line or tell them what to do next to get the answer.

5. You & Your Works –
Words can be powerful and some power words can be more powerful.
A good spice to add to your ad copy is applying more action and discovery verbs than adjectives.
Action verbs just as “imagine, discover, share, astonishing, amazing, incredible, etc
You don’t need adjectives like “best’ or ad copy like “PERMANENTLY Removes stretch marks IN 30
DAYS”

People would raise up their guards once they smell exaggeration or lies. Try to sell without being all
salesy and pushy. Remember Facebook is a social network where people come to catch up and have fun.
Don’t be desperate – just flow and tell people how awesome your stuff is – make your copy convincing
enough to get the click to your landing page. It’s the job of the landing page to sell.

Ad from Curlkit makes a perfect example.

Uses action verbs like ‘sexy’ to add more power to ‘curls’, also uses “hot new’ to describe the bikini – all
creating the perfect resonance with ad image.
There’s more. ‘Hand Picked’, ‘Experts’. Just the perfect way to sell on a crowded social network without
being pushy or hyperbolic.
You want your ads to be this interesting too. You want your ads to just be at the right temperature – not
too hot, not too cold – Just right.

See how GrubHub cleverly uses you and your in their copy.

A word of caution
You have to be careful when using this words especially if you’re in the health, fitness and beauty
markets. Don’t use ‘you’ in line with a personal attribute – it’s against Facebook policy.
Lines like ‘do you want to lose weight?’, do you have arthritis?’ do you want to have a glowing skin?’ all
use ‘you’ in the wrong way in line with personal attributes.
Also don’t overdo the use of you and your. Just keep it moderate.

6. Use Emojis –
Use of emojis in ads is still new and if you’re asking if they work, I assure you that they do.
When employed they instantly make your ads seems less like an ad and more casual and friendly. More
importantly, use emojis to enforce the message in your ad copy.
Most of my ads in the beauty and health space has them because I found out that ads with emojis have
higher relevance scores, click through rates, lower cost per clicks and lower cost per action.

In an ad for this client, we used emojis to impress a visual representation of the words ‘kiss & flower’.
Keep in mind you don’t just want to use emojis for emojis sake, use them if they are in fact necessary and
will help grab attention or convey your message better.

7. Capitalize –
Capitalizing words is another way to make your ad copy standout on the newsfeed. Best way to use this is
in highlighting the most important point in your ad or a very important emotional or psychological
trigger/benefit.
Note” don’t do every word in your ads in caps. Its annoying and shouty. For starters, just use caps to
highlight the one thing you want your audience not to miss.
In the ad below, Digital Marketer uses caps very well to highlight urgency.

More so, notice how the most important words that conveys the message on the next line starts with caps.
That’s brilliant too.

You want to also capitalize the beginning of every word in your headline to make them bold and stand
out.
